Since the introduction of the new vine theatre for YouTube, I’ve been meaning to give it a visual update. Today I am happy to announce the brand-new vine theatre for YouTube.
The video player will be available shortly for other video services.
I’ve pushed a preview release of Vine Theatre, a little tool created to help you watch videos on vine. Currently, it is only available for YouTube videos (bottom of the home page), and will be coming to the other video feeds as well.
So visit vine and try it out!
I went through Vine and fixed up some small IE problems, the items should now be appearing correctly as well as selecting a category is now functional and not being pushed all the way to the left. The updates should be live later today.
In the coming weeks I hope to push a few new features live including some new categories and bug fixes. So my question is this, what kinda of category do you want to see on Vine? Comment on this post and maybe include a few examples so that I can start looking into adding more.
As some of you may have noticed, ‘Random Digg’ has been added at the bottom of the home page. This little tool will show random Digg articles within the Design section of Digg.com. This feature is still in the early stages but will definitely get some updates in the near future.
The header can now be collapsed and expanded by clicking on the little arrow button on the right side of the toolbar. This will give you a bit more viewing room and space for all the feeds. Combined with this update, you are also now able to have the header and toolbar in a fixed position so when you scroll down to view more feeds the toolbar and header will stay at the top so it’s always in in reach.
Hopefully this will resolve some requests for minimizing the header so that the content has more space to breath.
During the two week beta it was planned that IE support will only be worked on during the last few days. Well I’m pleased to announce that IE support came earlier than expected! If you’re an IE user, please let us know of the remaining bugs that you may stumble upon.
A new feed has been added to the front page. Gizmodo.com has been demoted and replaced with Joystiq.com, a great gaming news blog.

Here we will update you on all the latest features, new feeds and other things that we feel you must know about. So be sure to visit this place often.
I would also like to introduce two new members to the newly created vine development team. Firstly: Phil, who will be my graphics designer. He will be in charge of creating the new logo and other small graphical elements throughout the site and other projects that’s part of vine and feedProcess. Secondly: Sebastian, he will be working on some of the somewhat secret projects that will be announced at a later date. He will also help with some of the graphical elements.
With two more on my team, I can focus more on front-end and back-end development. This includes some pretty big features that I want to add to vine, bug fixes in the almost-over 2 week beta and whatever else vine needs.
